Bronchitis Contagious or Not?

So, if you come across people with acute bronchitis, make sure you wash your hands properly and stay at a considerable distance when talking or getting in contact with these people suffering form bronchitis. Also, if you are suffering from acute bronchitis, you will have to try to stay away from your family and advise them to keep the distance at lest while the bronchitis is contagious. The period after which the bronchitis is no longer contagious is after one week or so.

The other type of bronchitis, the chronic bronchitis usually occurs with smokers or second hand smoker, at people exposed to different toxic environments and so on. The chronic bronchitis is not caused by a virus or bacteria; consequently it will not be of any danger to people around the sick person.

So, is bronchitis contagious? It’s only logical to say that the bronchitis caused by a virus sure is contagious, as the bacteria and the viruses are responsible fro spreading the disease. Otherwise, the chronic bronchitis is not at all contagious, so no worries there.
