If you ever wondered what kind of job should I get or what path should I take in terms of carrier, how about IT? Ok, you don’t know what IT is, I’m not sure about it; maybe you are not familiar with the term, but since you are reading this article you are already part of the IT phenomenon. IT stands for Information Technology.
Makes sense? Yes, everything around us is in one way or another related to IT, unless you don’t leave in the Amazonian forest, and even if you do, I wouldn’t bet too much on the fact that hi tech is not around also.
If you find yourself spending way too much time in front of your computer, and I’m not talking only about internet surfing, but you like getting into the finer aspects of your computer, operating system, changing various features, form wallpaper to how your Ram is allocated, you might be thinking about starting a carrier in IT; be around computers all the time and getting paid for it. Doesn’t sound bad, does it?
Ok, so now that you know what you want to do, what’s the next step? Even if you are guru of your you need more people to testify for that, and I don’t mean your relatives or online buddies. You need to get certified! In terms of getting certified the main ways here are two: CISCO and Microsoft. Both of them have certifying programs. For now I will give you some heads up on the MCP way, meaning Microsoft Certified Professional. This is your first step into getting your knowledge actually being acknowledged by a important, well know company (you’ve heard about Microsoft, right?). The pathway to certification is not very easy but the good news is that it can be achievable even for somebody without a college degree in computers. MCP is just the first step, you can go up to 8 or even more exams in order to be a MCSE (Microsoft System Engineer). The certification process can take from 3 weeks to 6 months or even more, depending upon your knowledge, skills, and time to prepare. Before taking any of the exams, corresponding courses are available with certified Microsoft partners.
Certification is very important in applying for a job in IT but usually it’s not the only requirement; as you probably guessed it, the other one is experience.
So if you are still browsing the internet, you can start looking for the closest certified partner in your area.
Good luck!
