Being old and getting young in just a day or the other way round; this is what happens in the latest Francis Ford Coppola movie- Youth without Youth.
Francis Ford Coppola has brought to the daylight a text by Mircea Eliade, a Romanian writer who has dealt a lot with the idea of metempsychosis, youth, old age and other interesting ideas.
Youth without Youth is a movie released in 2007. Youth without Youth is a story of love, of youth and getting older or getting younger in just one day, of migrating souls all of these being under a mysterious veil.
Youth without Youth’s screenplay was adapted by Francis Ford Coppola, and he chose as his main stars Tim Roth and Alexandra Maria Lara. Tim Roth does a marvelous role that presents a mature Tim Roth, not the one you know from the Quentin Tarantino movies. Apart from Tim Roth and Alexandra Maria Lara, the movie features a number of talented Romanian actors, such as Marel Iures, and the movie Youth without Youth was filmed in Romania as well.
Youth without Youth is a movie that plays with some ideas that may be difficult to understand such as metempsychosis, the migration of souls into different bodies and so on. The entire story remains in a mystery even when the movie is over, but all in all, Francis Ford Coppola has done a great job in rendering a unique love story that is set in between the World Wars.
The outstanding story can be attracting, however, Youth without Youth did not get the best movie reviews of Francis Ford Coppola- being accused of many shortcomings. Despite all that, it’s worth to see what Youth without Youth does for you.
